| What are Shimeji? Shimeji are little desktop mascots that can walk, climb and crawl around your computer screen. This is the first Shimeji ever created: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Using the codes controlling this Shimeji and replacing the pictures, people were able to create many different Shimeji, including manga characters, idols, or even crazy things like a dancing strip of bacon and make them walk around your desktop. The Shimeji can also throw your windows around and duplicate themselves. There's also Shimeji-ee, which is English enhanced Shimeji with two configurations, Calm (only walking around) and Mischievous (tossing windows and duplicating), but I haven't downloaded one of those yet and don't know how they work. I'll show you some of my Shimeji in action: My very first one I found in my files a while ago that went forgotten: - Spoiler:

My EXO Shimeji (Luhan, Kris, Sehun, Chanyeol) - ask me and I can send them to you: - Spoiler:

Pokemon & Vocaloid: - Spoiler:

My KHR Shimeji folder: - Spoiler:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] *note: I did not create any of these lolYou can find them all over deviantART and forums and blogs and such, it's easier to download the .rar files and unzip them than downloading .zip files, because to use those, there's an extra procedure to go through. I can always help if you're having difficulties opening the Shimeji. To start a Shimeji, click this icon after unzipping the files: - Spoiler:

Menu when you right-click on the icon of a Shimeji on your taskbar: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Top to bottom: Add one, come here (follow mouse), leave only one, bring back thrown window, close program. Have fun!

| Awww, you got me addicted *-* <= Just spent an hour hunting for shimeji...
I have the English version, and none of the little ones throw my windows around. Probably because I don't use IE though...

| @YNYuki: For them to throw around your windows, they can't be full-screen. The corners of the windows need to be in sight so the Shimeji can grab onto them. They can climb on the sides of my google chrome 8D but they've never thrown it away, I guess it doesn't happen often.
@ErrantEmber: Did you unzip the folder with the Shimeji's name? And check the config folder and see if the 10kb file is named 行動 and the 43kb file named 動作. If all of that is good and it still doesn't work, you might need to update your java.

| I did unzip and extract the files. I don't have a 10kb file or a 43kb file. Note: I downloaded the Shimejiee (English version). I'm going to delete it all and try downloading it again. | |

| @Tsu I'm gonna make them throw my windows! 8D <= maso? @Errant Check the file names of your images in the img folder. If the issue is not with Java nor the config folder, it may be the names. If you did it like me (taking the img folder from the different downloads and putting them all in the one of the English base version), it may cause some conflicts with the different scripts. Example: The English base version has 46 images named like this: shime1, shime2, shime3,... The shimeji you downloaded may have a different script with fewer or more actions, like 40 images named differently: shime1-2, shime1-3, ... Thus, if you used the image folder of the modified shimeji with the script of the base shimeji, your program goes [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So either 1.Rename the files or 2.Just use the script that comes with the modified download. If it's not because of that, then I have no idea... | |

| @Tsu It's not ^^; I just made it complicated because I didn't want to have so many different folders of shimeji. I wanted one big shimeji script/program but with different little mascots, so I put different image folders in the base img folder. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Is that understandable? Nevermind. | |

| Well thanks guys for your help but, I had to delete it all. It was taking up too much memory space anyways. I really appreciate your help though! Thanks! | |

| @YNYuki: But then can you run multiple Shimeji at the same time?
@ErrantEmber: Awwww that's too bad... I actually store my Shimeji on a separate drive xD They do take a lot of memory space...

| Aww... Well I mostly only keep 2 or 3 little guys hanging around. Since they multiply each other too fast for my taste when they are more than that. | |
